FAQs

What is the deadline for ordering meals and why is it so long?

The deadline for ordering meals is midnight on Sunday, one full week (7 days) prior to the complete week before the meal is served. This deadline is dictated to Chartwells by both their suppliers and by the necessary chain of supply that is needed to ensure delivery to all Primary Schools.

How do I order my choice of meals?

The choice of meal is made at point of ordering. You can choose either a Standard Meal, Vegetarian Meal or Alternative Choice each day.

Do Chartwells supply a packed lunch when my child is on a school trip?

If your child is on a school trip, the school will inform Chartwells and we will switch any booked hot meals to Away Day Packed Lunches. If you would prefer to supply your child with a packed lunch yourself please dont order a school meal for that day. Any questions, simply "Contact Us

Do Chartwells cater for children with special dietary requirements?

Special diets will be catered for, provided requests for these are supported by a medical report such as a letter from your GP or hospital dietician. Requests for special diets should be made direct to Chartwells (see Contact Us) with a supporting letter. A special menu will then be agreed upon between the parent and the Area Manager for the child's school. Religious diets will be catered for by the vegetarian meal.

What if my Child is sick?

In the event of sickness absence from school, meals may be cancelled for subsequent days provided Chartwells receive notification by TELEPHONE. The number to call can be found on the contact uscontact uscontact us contact us page. Because food items for your child have already been purchased you are only able to receive a credit on your account for meals after a 48 hour notice period has been completed from the initial phone call.

Where you have notified Chartwells of your child's absence within the specified time then you will receive a credit for those days that your child is absent from school.
